Proteak Teak Cutting Board Rectangle 20-by-14-by-2-1/2-Inch Hand Grip and Juice Canal, End Grain Reviews
9 of 9 people found the following review helpful beautiful and functional, June 26, 2009 By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Proteak Teak Cutting Board Rectangle 20-by-14-by-2-1/2-Inch Hand Grip and Juice Canal, End Grain (Kitchen) After upgrading my knives, I knew the next thing I needed was a good, end grain cutting board. I wanted end grain so that when I chop, the knife edge doesn't get as dull as fast. Additionally I wanted at least 2 inches of width since this is also critical to keeping your knives in tip top shape. Plus a flow channel to keep the juices from running out and all over was also desired. The flow channel also gives me a very clear marker for the meat side and the veggie side of the cutting board. This is a good thing when I need to cook for vegetarians.
Not only is the Proteak cutting board all that, its also drop dead gorgeous! The photos here simply do not do it justice. The grain flows together so well, at times it almost looks like hearts at times. I love having this in my kitchen, for the looks and for the function.
Beyond the beauty, this board makes my knives bounce! I find that I have less pain in my hand if I'm chopping a lot - which is a very good thing. My... Read more
9 of 10 people found the following review helpful Form + Function = one great cutting board, August 24, 2008 By This review is from: Proteak Teak Cutting Board Rectangle 20-by-14-by-2-1/2-Inch Hand Grip and Juice Canal, End Grain (Kitchen) Almost too beautiful to actually use, but this board in tough! After two years of use it is still holding up great and looks better than ever. It's a pleasure to use, and it makes an elegant serving platter as well. The channels on the side let meat juices flow away from the work area without risking a stain to your tablecloth. And it has a great story too: cut from a renewable teak farm in the Mexican jungle, not from some ancient forrest in Malayasia that has been illegally clear cut.
4 of 4 people found the following review helpful One word: Badass, April 5, 2010 By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Proteak Teak Cutting Board Rectangle 20-by-14-by-2-1/2-Inch Hand Grip and Juice Canal, End Grain (Kitchen) Yes there is one word to describe this cutting board: badass. Not only do I love this board, but when people come over, they fawn over it - weird right, but true - this makes me happy that I spent so much on a cutting board to enable such favorability. It is so cool, that I am cutting everything I can, eating more vegetables, etc. -- all because of this cutting board. But here's the deal, you have to baby and take of this board, meaning keep it clean and oil atleast every 2 weeks. I choose to use the best (and most healthy * versatile) oil, that being coconut oil. After every oiling, it makes the board look even better than brand new. I have no clue where this Amazon picture comes from, the board looks nothing like that. Don't get me wrong, the board is beautiful but since it is composed of endgrain-cuts (imagine blocks), there is no pattern like this picture. And if you're like me, you have to have some really nice knives to match your board. So chub up, buy the board and... Read more
