Great Tool, December 23, 2005 By This review is from: LEATHERMAN Wave - Pocket Survival Tool (Kitchen) I own both the Wave and PST II. Whenever I am doing a job I like to use the Wave because it is stronger and has more tools. The three locking blades and file are accessible without unfolding the tool. The rounded edges on the handle are much more comfortable when using the pliers.
The Wave is a little bigger and heavier than the PST II, so I tend to leave it off my belt for everyday use in favor of the PST II, but if it was the only one I had, I'd happily wear it everywhere.
The knife blades, screwdrivers, pliers, wire cutters, strippers, and especially the scissors are very convenient, handy, and work well. Since the blades are independent of the other tools (and they lock), this is a safer tool than some of the other Leatherman wannabe's.
My only complaint, and this covers the Wave and PST II, is the can opener. For some reason they make it thick and put the bevel on the wrong side (at least if you are right-handed and cut turning CW). It... Read more

Great all purpose tool, January 31, 2010 Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: LEATHERMAN Wave - Pocket Survival Tool (Kitchen) I purchased this item for my husband to replace his old one.(which I now use, for it still has a lot of life in it) He uses this tool more than once a day.We live on a farm and he has many jobs he performs. I thought it was like his older model where the Philips driver was permanent and not a pop out. I was wrong. However, he hasn't seemed to have any problem with it so far. I would highly recommend this tool to anyone who is looking for an all purpose knife combo. The best thing about the wave is that the knives are on the outside and you do not have to open the whole thing to get them out. Also every tool seems to lock much better than the older models.

However i like the old style wave better than the new one. When i was shopping around for a new one, as i had lost mine; there were many vendors to chose from. I chose this vendor because they were advertising the old style Wave, by the picture of the old wave and the fact that the description did not include "New Wave" like all of the other vendors.
Of course I have and am using the new wave now and it is great but still would have preferred the older style, just personal preference.
I would still recommend the wave to anyone, old style or new.
